In November of 2007, we heard from the 2007 MIT Decathlon team.
We are very excited that our next BASEA forum will give you the opportunity to have a "preview" of the 2009 entry from the Boston Architectural College/Tufts team. The team has completed the first stages of the project: the completed construction documents and specs package was submitted to DOE in December. The team is now refining details and materials selection, with construction expected to begin in April on the Tufts campus.
The joint BAC/Tufts team was one of only twenty teams from around the world accepted to participate in the 2009 competition.
The challenge is to design and build a home that provides the domestic needs of a household using only the sun as a power source. (Contest details are available at http://www.solardecathlon.org.)
In addition, the house must be able to be transported to the National Mall in Washington D.C. and re-assembled on site in October of 2009, where it will be judged and remain on view for the general public, along with entries from the nineteen other teams.
Please join us next Thursday, and remember that your donations and membership support BASEA.
